Journalist
Hello,
a bit about me:
Maybe you stumbled upon this because you’re stalking me on social media. You may have wanted inspiration for your next haircut (yes, chop it!). Or maybe you want to hire me for a job; in that case, stick around! Regardless, let’s take this moment to do a few introductions.
I’m Eleanor. I grew up in Iowa and studied journalism, political science and history at the stunning Iowa State University. I worked at the Iowa State Daily as a reporter, lifestyle editor, niche editor and managing editor (I know, they cannot get rid of me). Because I love being the worst-dressed person in the room, I joined the fashion publication TREND Magazine as an editorial director and copy editor in 2021. I interned at MidAmerican Energy, served at country clubs and nannied some kiddos in my spare time. I got a great gig in 2022 and was selected for the Dotdash Meredith Apprenticeship Program, where I was assigned to write, research and learn at EatingWell.com. In 2023, I applied for the prestigious American Society of Magazine Editors Summer Internship Program, and they somehow trusted me enough to assign me to BobVila.com. I learned all there is to know about home ownership and digital journalism while working with some pretty rad people.
Service journalism is my love language. If you pick up a love letter, it will probably be in AP Style. I’m a writer and researcher who aims to craft stories that inform readers while giving them a little pocket of bliss as they scroll. From shopping guides to easy lasagna recipes, I’m your gal. I hope that as you read through my work, you get answers to your most burning questions and walk away with a big ol’ smile.
You can find the full edition of my work history on my resume and read some of my work on my portfolio.
While it was great to blab about myself (see above), I want to get to know you! To chat with me IRL, click here. I can’t wait to gab together.
